Congress has reached a deal to keep the government open till September. The key items according to this Vox article are included below. It’s a relief to note that Planned Parenthood has not been defunded. The EPA budget has only been decreased by 1% and NIH spending has been increased by $2billion, amongst other positive moves. This article does not include good news for the NEA, which instead of being wiped out has actually been granted exactly what it asked for in its FY17 appropriations request – $149,849,000, which is $1.9 mn more than last year’s receipt of $147,949,000.
